Addressing infrastructure durability in response to coastal hazards: Research in this trust will explore new technologies to enable safe, efficient, and effective multimodal transportation systems before, during, and after coastal hazards. To date, multiple research efforts have been made to address coastal resiliency. However, there is a need to integrate these existing efforts in durability studies to identify the critical links, spots, or zones in coastal areas where the failure of one link will lead to cascading failures and the collapse of the entire system.
