This project investigates whether titanium alloy bars coated with mixed metal oxides can serve a dual purpose in coastal concrete structures: strengthening them structurally while also protecting the underlying steel from corrosion through an impressed current cathodic protection system. Electrochemical testing will assess how well the coating maintains stable, long-term corrosion protection when the bars are embedded in concrete, with results compared against standard protection anodes to evaluate whether this combined approach is viable for real-world rehabilitation of aging coastal infrastructure.
